Silas Update #82 (June 16, 7 pm)

Silas is still doing so well. His memory is great. He is getting stronger and stronger. He is sweet and funny and considerate.

All that being said, the delirium struggle is real. He feels like all kinds of crazy things are really happening and he gets frantic. He has tried to take cords and things off of his body and he tries to get out of bed.

It’s normal. As in it happens to a lot of TBI patients. But, it’s very hard on him. He gets so scared. He is praying to himself and we are praying with him. God is using it for sure. But it’s still quite difficult.

We are being moved to another floor shortly which should help.

Please pray for 100% recovery for Silas. Please pray that the delirium subsides. Please pray that he will trust in the Lord and be comforted. Please pray that he will clearly see how God is using this in his life and in the lives of others.

Please pray for endurance for Ryan and I. This will likely be a long night. This too shall pass.

Please pray for our kids at home. They are so ready to be the Atkinson 7 again.

If you have not read Si’s testimony, here it is. It will bless you!

Silas and his youngest cousin, Ezra. 🥰

  5. Continuing to pray! I hope that it was a good night. If not, I am praying tonight will be. Also praying that God will comfort the hearts of you other children as they continue to persevere in this season. I am constantly thinking about endurance and the amount of patience that it requires, not knowing why but trusting in who God is. I will be praying that God allows a deep trust in Him to grant peace to Silas as his brain heals and to you and Ryan as you seek to do what is best.

  6. “This is what the Lord says–
    He who created you, O Silas,
    He who formed you, O Cindy and Ryan:
    ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
    I have summoned you by name;
    you are mine.
    When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
    When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
    For I am the Lord, your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior! ”
    Isaiah 43:2-3a
