Silas Update #54 (June 10, 10:52 am)

Silas is good this morning. He is off his blood pressure medication and is holding steady. His ICP (Intra Cranial Pressure) is in normal range. But, we are at a bit of a stall point. The team is hoping to take out the ventilator and the “bolt” on Monday. So, they have increased sedation to keep him comfortable. Silas got pretty agitated last night and was trying to pull everything out. That is understandable but obviously not safe.

He is still doing great neurologically. When sedation is lowered he is extremely responsive and following commands.

We just had a long talk with neurosurgery. Their hope is a full recovery. However, that may be a long process. It could involve inpatient rehab for several weeks in Atlanta or Nashville. It could take up to 18 months for the fog to lift and for Silas to be back cognitively to where he was prior to the accident.

It was a tough conversation. Obviously.

Our hope is in the Lord and NOT in our circumstances. We can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us.

Please pray for 100% healing for Silas. Please pray for patience for all of us.

Silas loves the Lord so big. If you have not had a chance to read his testimony, scroll on down under the updates. Or you can watch him read it below (Warning: he talks fast!).

  1. Cindy, I am praying that Silas defies the prognosis for length of recovery and reaches full cognitive recovery much more quickly. We are so thrilled with the good news. Culver and Liam ask eagerly all day for updates, and we stop and pray for Silas. Love you so much.

  4. That is a lot to take in and I’m sure a very big emotional toll. Praying for your family to have the stamina needed in this long journey. It will be amazing how many people you can reach with Christ through this journey you all are on. Praying Silas will continue to improve!
