Silas Update #22 (June 4, 3:55 pm)

Hello all! So many of you are reaching out to tell us that you are praying without ceasing. Thank you! In Romans 12 it tells us to be devoted to one another in brotherly love. It tells us to be faithful in prayer. You guys are so doing those things and we are being blessed continually.

Silas is doing very well. His ICP is still very good. It is 9 as I type. The team is continuing to decrease sedation and Silas is doing well with that. Such a blessing!

The process of coming down from sedation is extremely slow. He will probably not be awake until tomorrow. They want to make sure he is safe and ready.

Slow is not really my thing. But guess what, it is what God has for us. And He is using it in a mighty way.

Please pray that the ICP stays low and they can continue to bring down his sedation. Please pray that Si is safe and ready to wake up tomorrow. Please pray that when he does wake up he knows Ryan and I and is comforted by us. Please pray for a smooth transition. Please pray that when Silas can talk (once the tube is removed in his throat), that he will talk.

Please pray for continued strength and wisdom for Ryan and I. Please pray for the rest of Si’s family. This is a hard time. But God is so very good. He has never once left us or forgotten us. His love is beyond measure and comprehension.

Our Silas has such a beautiful testimony of how he came to know and love and serve the Lord. Scroll down below the updates to read it.

Proud Papa and Sweet Silas…

  4. Hi, Atkinson family! Our family has been (and will continue to be) in constant prayer for Silas. We eagerly await your updates on your sweet boy every few hours. Levi, my son, was at camp with Silas, and he is already deeply on our hearts. Please know that we pray for him every time we think of him and your family.
I know the weaning of sedation can be an anxious time for you.
Hugs and prayers for Silas and your family as he wakes slowly! Praying his awareness of his family is a beautiful and light moment.
We loved reading his testimony. We feel we already know your family even though we haven’t met you yet. Thank you for giving access through your words to learn more about this wonderful boy, his testimony to Jesus, your raw faith and fears as his parents, and the goodness of Jesus through it all.

  6. I am yet praying. Remember God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we ask or think. Seeing all the comments I am reminded of one of my favorite bible verses….. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” -Matthew 18:20 …God is in the midst 🙏🏼

  9. “Goodness of God”

I love you Lord, For your mercy never fails me
All my days I’ve been held in your hands
From the moment that I wake up
    Until I lay my head
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

And all my life you have been faithful
And all my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

    I love your voice
You have led me through the fire
    In the darkest night
You are close like no other
I’ve know You as a father
I’ve know You as a friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God

And all my life you have been faithful
And all my life you have been so, so good
With every breath that I am able
Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

Cause your goodness is running after
    It’s running after me
    With my life laid down
    I’m surrendered now
    I give you everything
Cause your goodness is running after
    It’s running after me…..

    Cindy,
I’m not sure if you have heard this song. I love this one and I wanted to write down a few of the lyrics so you could read them. Please know that there are so many people praying for your whole family right now. When a Christian hurts, then we all hurt and Jesus hurts with us. God gave us one another because we cannot do it alone. I keep up with your updates, I have never met you, but Silas’s testimony touched my heart and I read it to Breanna who was in class with Collin. Our prayers will be with your family as Silas heals and thank you for the updates, Breanna and I keep checking on Silas and we are so thankful for every step of progress he makes and we will continue to pray as he continues to heal. Sending Love from Christy and Breanna. 🙏🏻❤️
