Silas Update #44 (June 8, 11:40 am)

“A Day of Discovery”… according to our trauma doctor that’s what today is.

Silas is still doing very well. The focus is still the ICP which is in normal range currently. The team is peeling back meds as they can while still keeping that number at a safe level.

Please pray for positive discoveries today. Pray that his ICP (Intra Cranial Pressure) stays in the normal range. Pray they can safely peel back meds. Pray for comfort for Silas. Pray for strength and endurance for all of us.

Silas Update #43 (June 8, 9:45 am)

Oh friends…. God is so good. Silas woke up a little again this morning. He moved quite a bit. He squeezed the doctor’s hand hard. He gave a thumbs up.

His vitals look great. His ICP is low. 7-9 (remember that number is very important and we want it under 20).

They are backing off on some meds including sedation.

Please pray that he continues to progress. Pray for a complete recovery for Si. Pray for wisdom for his team. Pray for strength for all of us.

When Ryan and I arrived we were given a note from one of Si’s team members who is not here today. It was all about how God has used Silas to draw her closer to Himself. Such a sweet reminder from our Lord that He is using this in a mighty way.

Our Silas serves a mighty God. If you have not read his testimony, scroll on down. It’s under the updates.

These two…. What am I supposed to do with them?🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Silas Update #42 (June 7, 7 pm)

When Dr. Savage came into the room our nurses were so excited and said, “Silas tried to wake up!” Her response: “Of course he did! He’s fine!”

And that’s how we are ending this roller coaster/torture device of a day.

Dr. Savage is very encouraged and encouraging. She still thinks Si will be just fine. He needs rest. Lots of rest. She thinks he needs 2 easy days of good rest. So obviously, today doesn’t count. So, we will talk about backing off sedation on Thursday or Friday. The plan is to keep him very sedated until then so his brain can heal.

Friends, thank you. Thank you for praying and thank you for caring. Please pray for uneventful rest for Silas. 48 hours of rest to be exact. Please pray for complete healing for his body. Please pray for comfort for his heart.

We are so thrilled by the fact that so many are reading and being impacted by sweet Si’s testimony. If you have not read it, please do! It’s just below the updates.

Stinker. 🥰

Silas Update #41 (June 7, 5:37 pm)

Um. So, Silas just tried to wake up. It’s not really time for that yet but he had other ideas. He opened his eyes a bit, moved his head and shoulders and squeezed our hands. Just to be clear, sedation was not lowered. He was coming out on his own. He is back resting comfortably now.

Praise the Lord! Things are looking so good right now! Pray that continues!

Silas Update #40 (June 7, 4:32 pm)

The storm has passed. Thank you so so so much for praying. His blood pressure is now good. And his heart rate actually went up. The team was surprised by that. Also, his ICP is good. To God be all the glory and honor and praise.

Please pray for healing for Silas. Pray for comfort for his heart. Pray for strength and endurance for all of us.

Silas Update #38 (June 7, 2 pm)

Silas is definitely not having his best ICU day. His blood pressure is through the roof. The team is working on getting that under control. His ICP is high but not nearly as high as this morning. The team has decided not to remove the clot for now. The risk is just too high.

We are so thankful that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus love and righteousness.

Please pray for Silas. Pray for total healing. Pray that his heart is comforted. Pray that his light continues to shine bright as he sleeps. Pray for wisdom for his team.

Pray for comfort and strength for all of us who love Silas. When we are weak He is strong. That’s a fact.

Silas loves and serves the Lord. And what a mighty God he serves. If you have not read his testimony, scroll on down. It’s under the updates.

And yet another selfie on a snatched phone. Stinker. 🥰

Silas Update #37 (June 7, 10:31 am)

Well, Silas has the flu. And still pneumonia. The team does not seem overly concerned about either. His ICP is still extremely high but there is a plan.

So, we are resting in the Lord’s strength. Ours is completely gone.

Please pray for complete healing for Silas. Pray for wisdom for his team. Pray for strength for all of us.

Silas Update #36 (June 7- 1 week since the accident, 9:25 am)

Si’s ICP is pretty high but his blood pressure is also high. That is good in this case because it keeps blood flow in his brain. The team is on it. They are deciding next steps which could include removing the clot. Si had a good night. He rested. We are still right on the roller coaster (I told our doctor yesterday it’s much more like a torture device).

Please pray for the ICP to go down. Pray for wisdom for the team on next steps. Pray for comfort for Si. Pray for peace for all of us.

I look over the last week and I see God’s hand on everything. Every single moment has been under His authority and love. The young moms were over that day swimming with their littles. That tree struck Silas at the same time as Baby Josie was sleeping in a pool float in our backyard. And you know what, God was with both of them. He still is. He is with us in the good and in the hard. That brings me such comfort.

In the moments after I found out about the accident. God was so with us. Ryan was close by and could come right home. My neighbor was out and willingly received my other 4 children until my mom could get there. My mind was filled with scripture. He gave me strength to speak to my children and neighbors, to remind them and myself, that we are trusting God. We prayed together.

God has surrounded us on every side with so much love and support and prayer. From our family, from our church, from our friends, from friends of friends, and on and on. Our hospital team is amazing. They love us. They love Silas. They are praying for us. They are comforting us. They are reading these updates. Please continue to pray for them.

Most importantly, God is being glorified in this. And He will continue to do what is best for His glory and Si’s good. He is working it all together. Moment by moment.

Si’s testimony has literally spread far and wide. Oh what a love this boy has for the Lord and His Word. I cannot wait until the day when I hear him listening to sermons in his bed at night again. And that is certainly our hope. If you have not had a chance to read Si’s testimony, scroll on down. It is under the updates.

Sweet Baby Josie…

Silas Update #35 (June 6, 9:20 pm)

Hello all! Hopefully this will be our last update of the day. Silas finished the day steady and strong with a very low ICP, great blood pressure, high oxygen levels, etc.

The scan came back with no change. That is good and what we expected. The clots are still there. They are not going to do anything else tonight.

Please pray for a restful night for Silas. Pray that his ICP stays low and that all the vitals remain steady. Pray for wisdom for his doctors as they determine next steps. Pray that he is restored to full health.

Silas is a disciple of Jesus Christ. His eternity is secure. He is safely in the Father’s hands. If you have not read his testimony, scroll on down under the updates. You will be blessed.

Silas loves taking pics of himself on his friend’s phones… 😊
