Silas Update #56 (June 10, 10:30 pm)

Silas is holding steady. His monitors look great! The team is having a little trouble taking his sedation down. He gets agitated when the sedation gets below a certain level. I know I would too.

Please pray that the team will get the bolt, the drain and the ventilator out on Monday. That is the plan.

Please pray for a quick and 100% recovery for Silas. Please pray that he is drawing closer and closer to the Lord. Please pray for strength and endurance for him.

Please pray for Ryan and I as we process all the things and as we parent our other children. They are hurting deeply. Alexa said today, “I miss the light that Si brings to our family.” Please pray for their hurting hearts.

Please pray for comfort for all of us who love Silas. Please pray that many continue to be impacted by Si’s life and testimony.

Ryan and Grandpa Jon… what a team!

Silas Update #55 (June 10, 2:53 pm)

Hello friends. There is really nothing new to report but I know you all are praying fervently so I thought a mid-day update would be good.

Silas is resting comfortably. All the numbers on all the monitors look great. Praise the Lord!

It has been a hard day emotionally. It is a lot to process. However, our faith is growing and growing. We want a faith as strong as Abraham. Who was willing to do anything, even sacrifice his own son, for God’s glory.

Silas belongs to the Lord. We have always known that. But now we know it so much more deeply. God is using Si in a mighty way for His glory and Si’s good. His plans and ways are not ours. They are so much better. They are perfect.

Please pray for 100% healing for Silas. Please pray for endurance to run the race that God has set before him… and us. Please pray that lives continue to be impacted for God’s glory. Please pray for the team that is caring for Silas. Pray for so much wisdom.

Please pray for all those who are caring for our other children. Please pray for our other children- Caleb, Cheyenne, Collin and Alexa. They are holding strong. They are truly amazing children, each in their own right.

Please pray for Ryan and I. For wisdom. There are many decisions to come. We know that when we ask in faith, without any doubt, God gives us wisdom freely.

Silas Update #54 (June 10, 10:52 am)

Silas is good this morning. He is off his blood pressure medication and is holding steady. His ICP (Intra Cranial Pressure) is in normal range. But, we are at a bit of a stall point. The team is hoping to take out the ventilator and the “bolt” on Monday. So, they have increased sedation to keep him comfortable. Silas got pretty agitated last night and was trying to pull everything out. That is understandable but obviously not safe.

He is still doing great neurologically. When sedation is lowered he is extremely responsive and following commands.

We just had a long talk with neurosurgery. Their hope is a full recovery. However, that may be a long process. It could involve inpatient rehab for several weeks in Atlanta or Nashville. It could take up to 18 months for the fog to lift and for Silas to be back cognitively to where he was prior to the accident.

It was a tough conversation. Obviously.

Our hope is in the Lord and NOT in our circumstances. We can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us.

Please pray for 100% healing for Silas. Please pray for patience for all of us.

Silas loves the Lord so big. If you have not had a chance to read his testimony, scroll on down under the updates. Or you can watch him read it below (Warning: he talks fast!).

Silas Update #53 (June 9, 9:25 pm)

Oh friends, I think we have jumped to the 4 steps forward phase. Silas is doing so so so well! His ICP has stayed low (single digits!) and so has his Blood Pressure. His Oxygen levels have stayed high. The team is taking down his sedation.

He is now waving at his nurses when they come in the room and putting up a hand when he needs them to quiet down a bit. I love it so much… and so do they. 🥰

Please pray for more steps forward and no steps back. Please pray for 100% healing for Silas. Please pray that he can minister to those around him, even in his current state, because he is compelled by the love of Christ. Please pray for comfort for his heart and strength for his body. I know he is weary.

Please pray for all of us that love Silas. Pray for strength and endurance and patience. And so many love him. So there are a lot of us hurting right now. Pray that we all draw closer to the Lord.

Silas Update #52 (June 9, 5:18 pm)

Silas is doing so so so well. He is opening his eyes and wiggling around a lot. He is consistently following commands. At one point our nurse asked him for a thumbs up and he shook his head no. It was pretty hysterical.

His vitals are great. His ICP is low. The team is pleased.

Please pray for a restful and uneventful night. Please pray for 100% healing. Please pray that he wakes up tomorrow and wakes up well and without incident. Pray that his love for the Lord is growing deeper and wider. Please pray for strength and comfort that only the Lord can provide.

Please pray for strength and endurance and patience for all of us who love Silas so much.

If you have not read his testimony, you simply must. It is below the updates.

This is how we do a stomach bug…. 🥰

Silas Update #51 (June 9, 3:10 pm)

Silas is making his needs known by blinking once for yes and twice for no. Praise Jesus! He is in a lot of pain. He is letting us know his head hurts. That is to be expected of course. We told him we would reach out for prayer.

Please pray for continued healing. Please pray for relief from pain.

If you have not, please scroll on down to read Si’s testimony.

Silas Update #50 (June 9, 2:10 pm)

Silas is doing really well. His ICP is low. Mostly under 10. His Blood Pressure is good. His Oxygen level is good.

Please pray for more rest. Please pray for 100% healing. Please pray for solid progress. Please pray for comfort and strength for Silas. Please pray that scripture is running through his mind and that he is talking to his Heavenly Father. Please pray for the team that is so lovingly and expertly caring for him while educating and sometimes comforting us (Shout out to Courtney who has let me cry on her shoulder more than once!!!).

Friends, God is using this moment by moment and day by day for His glory and for Si’s good. Our hope is that you are all drawing closer to the Lord as you pray for Silas.

And again… 🥰

Silas Update #47 (June 9, 9:52 am)

Overall, Silas is good this morning. His vitals are good. His ICP is good.

Last night he had two episodes of oxygen dropping, and BP and ICP going up. The team was on top of it as usual.

Today they are still talking slow removal of sedation. So that’s good. Silas is still very responsive. We are able to pray with him today out loud. What a blessing.

This is just a long process. And it’s a painful one. My brother keeps reminding us…. 2 steps forward 1 step back… then 3 steps forward 1 step back… then 4 steps and so on. We are making progress for sure. And it is going exactly as God planned from the beginning of time.

Our faith is growing stronger and stronger and stronger by the day. We hope yours is too.

Please pray for 100% healing for Silas. Please pray for strength and endurance for all of us. Please pray for comfort for Silas and all of us who love him. Please pray for a restful day. Please pray that he comes out of sedation slowly and well.
